Judging Criteria

MS/MRS DIVISION

Interview

25% of score

Judges will be looking for poise, speaking ability, quality of answers, overall presence, personality, suitability of being a community representative and knowledge of the community.

Interviews will be conducted prior to pageant day.

Scholastic Exam

5% of score

Contestants will each write a short scholastic exam that will cover Canadian history & geography along with current events & local knowledge.

This segment is designed to help contestants become more connected with their country & community. ​

Speech

10% of score

Each contestant will submit two questions ahead of time and will be asked one of them on Speech Night.

Speeches must not exceed 60 seconds.

They will be judged on their confidence, poise, speaking ability and quality of answer.

Speeches will be hosted on Instagram Live.

Introduction

10% of score

Each contestant will wear a black outfit on stage and introduce themselves to the audience.

 

They will be judged on their confidence, speaking ability and stage presence.

Fashion

10% of score

Contestants will wear a fashion outfit of their choice our Fashion Show and will be judged on their confidence and their stage ability/presence.

Resort Wear

10% of score

Each contestant will wear a wear a resort wear outfit on stage.

 

They will be judged on their confidence, personality, overall appearance and stage ability/presence. They are NOT judged on their physical appearance.

Fundraising Requirement

Each contestant is required to bring an item (valued $50 or higher) for the silent auction fundraiser at the pageant. 

This does not count towards your score but there is an award for highest fundraiser & best ambassador. See awards

Evening Gown

15% of score

Each contestant will wear a wear a long gown on stage

 

They will be judged on their confidence, personality, overall appearance and stage ability/presence.

Finalist Cut

If there are 10 or more contestants competing then we will do a cut to finalists and only they will compete in the following two segments.

If less than 10 people are competing then everyone will compete in these segments

Live Q & A

10% of score

Contestants will be asked to answer a random question on stage & be given 30 seconds to answer.

 

They will be judged on their confidence, poise, speaking ability and quality of answer.

Final Impression

5% of score

Judges will have one final opportunity to see the contestants together to make a final overall impression score.
